Sleep Disorders in Long COVID
Sleep disturbances are a well-documented symptom of Long COVID. Common issues include difficulty falling and staying asleep, frequent night-time awakenings, lack of deep sleep, unrefreshing sleep, and sleep/wake cycle disruptions. Emerging research also suggests that obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) may develop as part of Long COVID, though further studies are needed to confirm this link.
As part of your referral from the Long Covid Clinic, we complete a comprehensive assessment to screen for sleep disorders in adults. Our process includes:
- A guided sleep consultation
- A home-based diagnostic sleep study using the WatchPAT disposable device
- Expert analysis of results by a Consultant or Senior Sleep Physiologist
Following the assessment, your results will be reviewed and discussed in a follow-up appointment with your usual clinician at the Long Covid Clinic with to ensure you receive the best possible care and next steps for managing your sleep health.
